Experience the vibrant atmosphere of Huntersville Family Fitness and Aquatics (HFFA) on July 12, 2026. This year marks the return of the popular Huntersville Sprint Triathlon, an event that caters to both seasoned athletes and newcomers alike. The sprint triathlon begins with a 400-yard swim in HFFA’s large 50m pool. Participants will navigate through lanes from one end of the pool to the other, starting every ten seconds based on their bib number. The first swimmer sets off at 7:00 AM, ensuring a smooth and organized start for all competitors. After your swim, you’ll transition into the bike portion—a 20K loop course that offers both flat stretches and moderate hills. This route is perfect for those looking to test their endurance on two wheels before tackling the final run segment. The concluding leg of the race is a 5K out-and-back run along Verhoeff Drive, providing runners with scenic views as they push themselves towards the finish line. The event guarantees swag items and swim caps for all participants, making it an exciting experience from start to finish. For younger athletes aged 7-15, there’s also the Sprint Youth TRI option. This triathlon features a shorter swim of just 100 yards (4 lengths), followed by a 2-mile bike ride on Verhoeff Drive and concluding with a 1-mile run back along the same route. Participants will start their swim at 9:00 AM, ensuring an organized and manageable pace. Both events benefit from HFFA’s state-of-the-art facilities, including indoor bathrooms for spectators and participants alike. The first 200 registrants secure a race shirt, adding to the excitement of this community event. Thank you to our local sponsors who contribute to making these races possible and supporting important causes such as St Jude Children's Cancer Research. Mark your calendars and join us on July 12 for an unforgettable triathlon experience in Huntersville!
