Zindel Park Night Race invites runners and hikers to explore its enchanting trails under starlit skies. Registration for this exclusive event opens on July 19th at 7pm, with spots limited to the first 250 participants who sign up. The race takes place around Zindel Reservoir, a serene setting that transforms into an otherworldly landscape after dark. Participants must be prepared for winter conditions and equipped with headlamps as they navigate through rugged terrain illuminated only by moonlight and artificial light sources. For those seeking longer distances, the 7-mile route offers a challenging yet rewarding experience. This course winds along the Outer Limits and Spring Run trails, featuring varied elevation changes that test endurance and agility. The trailhead begins at Zindel Park’s caretaker house before heading up to the reservoir via a forested road, crossing over on a metal footbridge. Runners will then proceed onto Gut Check Trail for an initial steep climb followed by a descent into Outer Limits where they’ll encounter Pine Loganton Road and an aid station. The journey continues along Spring Run with five stream crossings leading into Gorge Trail before descending to the finish line via Black Diamond and Creekside Trails. For those preferring a shorter route, the 5K option is equally captivating. It follows much of the same path as the longer course until reaching Gut Check’s summit. From there, runners will cross McElhattan Run on a bridge and continue along Gorge Trail to complete their journey through Black Diamond and Creekside Trails back to the finish line. Participants should be prepared for any weather conditions that may arise during this night event. The terrain is rugged yet runnable in parts, offering both technical sections and more forgiving stretches of trail. This race promises an unforgettable experience with its unique blend of adventure and camaraderie among fellow runners navigating through Zindel Park’s winter wonderland by headlamp light. Please note: Once registered, there are no refunds or bib switches available for this event. Registration is strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. Join us as we celebrate the beauty of running under the stars at one of Pennsylvania's most scenic parks!
