IDIAZABALGO II. MENDI DUATLOIA

Idiazabal K.E., nestled in the heart of Basque Country’s stunning mountain landscapes, invites runners to experience an exhilarating vertical challenge on Azaroak 14. This unique race offers participants three distinct sectors that combine trail running and cycling through some of Spain's most dramatic terrain.
The event kicks off at 16:00 with a thrilling climb in the first sector—a steep 5.64-kilometer trek up to an elevation gain of 218 meters. This initial stretch sets the tone for what lies ahead, testing runners' endurance and resilience as they navigate narrow trails winding through dense forests.
After a brief transition period, participants will gear up for their bikes in sector two, covering 16.54 kilometers with significant climbs totaling an elevation gain of 758 meters. This section is designed to push cyclists’ limits on technical mountain bike paths that wind around rocky outcrops and through picturesque valleys.
The final stretch returns runners back to the trails for a decisive 2-kilometer climb, ascending 69 meters in altitude. As they near the finish line, competitors will feel the adrenaline rush as they conquer this last steep ascent before reaching their goal.
This event is not just about personal achievement but also immersing oneself in the beauty of Basque Country’s natural landscapes. Participants can expect breathtaking views and a supportive community atmosphere that celebrates every step taken towards the summit.
