Jennie Hamilton Memorial 5 Mile Trail Run

Crazy Legs Race Series invites runners to experience an adventurous and challenging course at Stoney Run Park on May 24, 2027. The race starts promptly at 8:00 am central time, offering participants a unique blend of natural terrain that includes varied trails through the Indiana landscape.
Runners can expect a mix of wooded paths, open fields, and even some pond crossings near the end of the course. For those who prefer to avoid getting wet or muddy, an alternative detour route is available, adding only about 0.1 mile to your total distance. The race organizers recommend bringing bug spray due to standing water in parts of the trail that can attract insects.
Participants will receive a complimentary water bottle upon signing up and a stick once they cross the finish line as part of the old-school timing system. It's important for runners to return their sticks promptly after finishing, as this helps with race management. Aid stations are strategically placed throughout the course; one is located just past mile 3 where you can find both water and Gatorade.
After crossing the finish line, refreshments including snacks will be available along with a place to change into dry clothes if needed. There won't be an official awards ceremony, but top male and female runners as well as age group winners will receive their medals upon turning in their sticks at the designated area near the end of the race.
The Crazy Legs Race Series aims to promote non-pavement races across Northwest Indiana by developing challenging yet enjoyable courses in local parks. This event is open to all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation, biological sex, gender identity or expression, and welcomes everyone with a spirit of inclusivity.
It's worth noting that the land where these events take place was traditionally stewarded by several Native American nations, including the Miami, Shawnee, Illinois Nations, and Lenape (Delaware). The organizers acknowledge this history as part of their commitment to respect and honor indigenous communities.
