On Saturday, September 19, 2026, the community of Oneida, NY will come together for the Annual Jessica’s Heroes 5K Run/Walk. This year's event is set to take place at Allen Park, located within the heart of Oneida Place in Madison County. The race honors the memory and spirit of Jessica Froelick, a beloved local who lost her battle with breast cancer at just 34 years old. Jessica was not only an advocate for those battling cancer but also a source of strength and comfort to many during their darkest hours. Her legacy lives on through this annual event, which aims to support individuals fighting cancer in Madison or Oneida County as well as patients being treated at the Oneida/Roswell Cancer Center and The Upstate Cancer Center. Participants will take part in a scenic 5K run/walk that winds its way through Allen Park. This community park offers lush greenery and picturesque views, providing runners with an inspiring backdrop for their journey. Alongside the main event, there is also a special ceremony to honor survivors of cancer, those currently battling the disease, and individuals who have passed away from it. The day will kick off at 10:00 AM with an opening ceremony celebrating Jessica's life and her unwavering dedication to helping others. Immediately following this touching tribute, children aged 12 and under can participate in a fun run designed specifically for them. This event aims to instill the values of hope and resilience that Jessica cherished. In addition to these highlights, there is an exciting new feature for participants: "Hero Status!" For just $50, runners have the opportunity to join both the Virtual Mini Fun Run/Walk during June-July and the main 5K event on September 19th. Early registration by August 23rd also guarantees a free T-shirt. The race itself will begin promptly at 11:00 AM for runners followed closely by walkers starting at 11:05 AM, ensuring that everyone can take part in this meaningful community event. Throughout the day, there are various opportunities to engage and support those affected by cancer. A basket raffle is scheduled for 12:30 PM, providing an additional way to contribute to a worthy cause while enjoying some fun activities with friends and family. For those interested in forming teams or joining existing ones, it’s easy to set up sponsorship pages online before the event. Packet pick-up will be available via drive-thru on a date yet to be announced but is expected to occur shortly prior to race day. The Jessica's Heroes Foundation was established by Jessica’s husband Joe Froelick and her family in memory of their beloved daughter, wife, and friend.
