The 53rd annual Joe Weber Arky 100, set for Sunday, October 13, 2024, offers cyclists four challenging ride options: 25 miles, 50 miles, 62 miles, and the legendary 100-mile course. This event supports numerous local charities including McGehee Boys' and Girls' Club, Big Dam Bridge Foundation, Recycle Bikes for Kids, Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas, Bike League, and Adventure Cycling Association. Starting at Sheridan, a charming community in Grant County, participants will enjoy low-traffic roads that wind through scenic landscapes. The ride begins early with the 100-mile route at 8:30 am, followed by the 62-milers shortly after. Cyclists can join the main group or start independently if they prefer. For those seeking a shorter challenge, the 50 and 25 miles will commence around 8:40 am, catering to both early starters and latecomers who wish to begin their ride by 10:00 am. The event ensures safety with mandatory bicycle helmets and offers SAG vehicles, stocked rest stops, and emergency services throughout the morning. Post-ride festivities include hearty burgers, hot dogs, and beverages at the Pavilion in Sheridan. Showers are available for those who need a quick wash-up back at the Community Center. While not required to be an ABC member, participants can sign up during registration if they wish. Navigational aids such as route maps can be printed from the Arkansas Bicycle Club’s website or accessed on-site. Additional support is provided by local motels in nearby Little Rock and Pine Bluff, with convenient accommodation options like America's Best Value Inn in Sheridan offering comfortable stays at 870-942-5995.
