Justistal Marathon

The race begins at the Beatenbergbahn and immediately ascends to the Niederhorn, where runners will quickly accumulate elevation gain. The route then follows the scenic Güggisgrat before crossing over the Gemmenalphorn and heading down into the Justistal valley. After a thrilling downhill section, the course turns steeply uphill towards Sichle. Runners continue along the Sigriswilergrat until they reach the charming town of Sigriswil.
In Sigriswil, participants will cross the iconic hanging bridge before continuing on to Thun at a more relaxed pace. The race concludes with a well-deserved refreshment served at Manis Bar near the train station in Thun by 6:00 PM.
Water stations are sparse along the route, so runners should ensure they carry enough water and refill when possible. There is a restaurant on Niederhorn for additional hydration options, and a Coop store in Sigriswil where participants can purchase snacks or supplies if needed.
Runners have the option to leave their personal belongings at lockers available near Thun train station before starting the race. The decision regarding whether the event will proceed as planned is made two days prior based on weather conditions due to the exposed nature of parts of the route.
Participants are encouraged to travel by bus, with a designated shuttle service departing from Kante A towards Beatenbergbahn at 7:32 AM for easy access to the start line. Accommodation options include various hotels and youth hostels in nearby areas.
Each runner will self-time their race and submit results via email after completion. Once submitted, runners receive an official certificate by mail along with a finisher's drink and the unique experience of crossing the hanging bridge in Sigriswil (at 8 CHF).
