Kalmar Swimrun 2026

Experience the thrill of Kalmar Swimrun 2026, an exciting blend of running and swimming that will take you through the heart of Kalmar. This dynamic race is part of a growing trend in sports, combining land-based challenges with aquatic adventures to create a unique experience.
Scheduled for July 11th, 2026, this event starts at Larmtorget in central Kalmar. Participants compete in teams of two or as solo runners and must adhere to strict rules regarding equipment and safety measures, including the mandatory possession of items like whistles and first-aid kits throughout the race.
The main attraction is the half-marathon distance (23KM) for team competitors, featuring approximately 19 kilometers of running on relatively flat terrain and about 3.8 kilometers of swimming in calm waters near Kalmarsund's shoreline. The sprint version (7KM), designed to be completed within an hour, offers a shorter yet intense challenge with around 5.5 kilometers of running and 1.5 kilometers of swimming.
Both distances cater to different levels of experience and fitness, from seasoned athletes to beginners looking for a thrilling introduction to swimrun competitions. The event features three categories: men's, women's, and mixed teams, as well as an individual sprint category (SPRINT SOLO) for those who prefer the solo challenge.
Safety is paramount at Kalmar Swimrun, with strict age requirements set by the organizing committee from Kalmar Simsällskap. For team events, participants must be 18 years or older, though exceptions may occasionally be granted on a case-by-case basis. The sprint categories follow similar guidelines but offer more flexibility for family participation.
The race course is well-marked and includes designated water stations where runners can hydrate and receive medical support if needed. Upon crossing the finish line, participants will not only earn their medals but also have the option to purchase an eco-friendly event t-shirt at a cost of 150 SEK (approximately $16 USD).
