Kanyon Kids Trail Run

The Kanyon Kids Trail Run returns to Wellsboro, Pennsylvania on August 1st, offering a unique opportunity for young runners aged twelve and under.
This free event takes place at the picturesque trail near Kerr Road in Wellsboro’s northern outskirts. On race day, participants gather early morning with temperatures typically ranging from mild highs of around twenty degrees Celsius to cooler mornings that may hover just above fifteen degrees Celsius on average. Runners can expect a moderate breeze and slightly humid conditions as they set out along the challenging yet rewarding trail.
The Kanyon Kids Trail Race has been an integral part of Wellsboro’s community events since its inception, with hundreds of children participating annually. The race is organized by Tyoga Running Club to introduce young individuals to the sport of trail running in a supportive and encouraging environment. Proceeds from any donations collected are directed towards local youth programs.
The course winds through rugged terrain featuring over 750 feet of elevation gain, making it an interesting experience for all participants while also presenting challenges that some may find demanding. The trail includes two small stream crossings where runners might encounter wet conditions depending on the weather leading up to race day. Well-marked and patrolled by volunteers throughout its entirety, this course offers a safe yet adventurous setting.
Race morning temperatures in August are generally comfortable but can vary from fifteen-point-four degrees Celsius to twenty-five-point-two degrees Celsius with an average of twenty-point-three degrees Celsius. With humidity at seventy-four point two percent, the air feels slightly damp and can be accompanied by light precipitation totaling three millimeters on average during race day conditions.
