Autumn brings back TACH's beloved 12.5-mile trail race through Keynsham’s picturesque countryside. This scenic journey starts at the southern end of Bath Hill car park, weaving along rivers and rolling agricultural land before venturing into wooded areas. The route includes a revitalized Compton Dandy section with two streams that may leave you slightly damp by the finish. Registration for this event takes place from 8:45 am to 9:45 am at The New Inn on Bath Hill, where participants can collect their race numbers and drop off bags before heading out. Canicross runners will start in waves before the main race begins at precisely 10:00 am. The race is limited to a total of 200 entries, including up to 40 for dog owners who must select "canicross" when registering. Participants are reminded that there's no day-of entry and should ensure their dogs have public liability insurance as required by many household policies. Dogs participating in the event must be on CaniX regulation waistbelts at all times. Parking is available free of charge at Bath Hill East Car Park, located just off Bath Hill. Public transport options include a nearby bus stop for route 39 and a short walk from Keynsham railway station. TACH aims to foster inclusivity in its races with separate prize categories for women who meet England Athletics criteria and an open category available to all competitors. Additionally, there are age-specific awards (V40, V50, V60, V70+) as well as prizes for canicross runners. A portion of the event’s surplus will be donated to the Bath, Keynsham & Somer Valley Foodbank. Safety is a top priority; the race route includes marshals and first aid support throughout. Participants are advised to carry an extra layer in case they need to wait for assistance due to injury or other issues. The organizers also recommend downloading the 'What3words' app, which can assist rescuers in locating participants accurately. To minimize environmental impact, runners are encouraged to share transport with fellow competitors and use reusable cups at water stations instead of disposable ones. Bone-conducting headphones are permitted for safety reasons, while earbuds or standard headphones are strictly banned during the race. The event is meticulously organized by over 30 TACH members who ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. As always, runners should be cautious around livestock in fields and walk near cattle to avoid any incidents. Join us this autumn for an unforgettable trail running adventure that combines stunning scenery with community spirit and charitable giving.
