KGNS COMMUNITY DASH 5K RUN AND WALK

KGNS 2026 Community Dash, scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, invites runners and walkers of all ages to celebrate USA's 250th anniversary at North Central Park. Registration is now open online.
The event kicks off with pre-registration starting at 7:00 am on race day. Participants can register in advance or opt for onsite registration at the park. The main attraction, a family-friendly 5K run/walk, begins promptly at 8:00 am.
North Central Park offers free parking and is equipped to handle participants of all ages. Children aged four and above are welcome; those under six must be accompanied by an adult throughout the course. Strollers are permitted but should start from the back of the pack for safety reasons. Pets, with the exception of certified service animals, will not be allowed on the race route.
The 5K course is meticulously designed to showcase the park's scenic beauty and varied terrain. Detailed information about the specific layout will be provided during the event day. Participants can expect cones marking the path along the way for easy navigation.
Awards are given based on overall gun/chip times, with additional accolades distributed among age groups: 10 and under, 11 to 14, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and those aged 60 and above. Age group awards are determined by chip time, so there's no need for participants to position themselves at the front of the starting line.
Registration fees vary: $15 for kids under ten, $25 for runners, and $25 for walkers. A late fee of $35 applies if registration occurs on race day itself. Race bibs with disposable timing chips will be issued during packet pickup or at onsite registration to ensure seamless tracking throughout the event.
Participants can pick up their packets either online in advance or in person from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, October 9th, at United Way's office located at 1815 E. Hillside Road. Race shirts will be distributed during packet pickup to the first hundred participants, with sizes based on availability.
