Knaresborough Crag Rat Run 2026

Crag Rat, named after residents of Knaresborough, invites runners to explore the town's diverse landscapes and trails. The race caters to all skill levels, offering a mix of terrain that includes both challenging ascents and descents along with smooth tarmac sections.
The route begins at Knaresborough Cricket Club before taking participants down winding paths through the craggy cliffs alongside the River Nidd. After crossing onto tarmac for part of the journey, runners will navigate through wooded trails and then return to a narrow path by the riverbank. A scenic bridge near the Petrifying Well marks another transition point as runners follow the riverside before ascending back up the rugged terrain towards the finish line.
Runners can expect to receive medals and goody bags upon crossing the finish line, along with vouchers from local hospitality venues that sponsor the event. Throughout the race day, refreshments such as tea, coffee, and cakes will be available for purchase, with all proceeds going directly to Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Detailed course updates will be sent out via email after online entries close, ensuring participants are well-prepared for their journey through Knaresborough’s unique terrain. On-the-day registration is possible but comes at an additional fee of £2; please note that cash-only payments are required as card facilities are not available on site.
Race numbers and embedded timing chips will be distributed from 9:30 am on the day of the event, ensuring a smooth start for all participants eager to experience Knaresborough’s natural beauty.
