Les Fort'iches du Lauragais is an annual celebration of the scenic beauty and rich heritage of the Lauragais region, centered around Ayguesvives. This event offers runners and walkers a variety of distances to suit all levels of fitness and experience. The Amadou (5 km) takes participants on a gentle course that winds along the picturesque canal du Midi before leading into the serene park surrounding the town hall. For those seeking a bit more challenge, there's the Bosse (11 km), an extension of the Amadou route that ventures up to higher elevations around Ayguesvives and includes the famous climb known as La Bosse. For runners looking for a longer adventure in this charming landscape, the Lauragaise (23 km) offers a more extensive loop with rolling hills. This course takes you through Montesquieu-Lauragais, a picturesque village that is sure to captivate visitors with its unique beauty and character. The event also features a walking route called Côte des Poules, which spans 4 kilometers along the scenic path near the Sanglier lock and includes another notable climb. In addition to these courses for adults, Les Fort'iches du Lauragais caters to younger participants with two dedicated races: the Poussine (1.5 km) designed specifically for children aged six and under; and the Benjamine (3 km), suitable for slightly older kids up to eight years old. For the very youngest competitors, there's a special event called La Pitchoun, which is an engaging obstacle course set on the rugby field and track. This fun-filled race provides little ones with their own unique experience within the larger festival atmosphere. Each route offers something distinctive about the Lauragais region, whether it’s through its natural beauty or historical landmarks. Participants can look forward to a day filled with scenic views, challenging terrain, and friendly competition in this vibrant community event. Les Fort'iches du Lauragais is not just a race but an opportunity for runners of all ages to explore the picturesque landscapes and charming villages that make up the heart of the Lauragais region.
