Experience the magic of Trail de la Ratapignata as it returns for its ninth edition on the sunny coast near Nice. This trail run offers three distinct courses designed to cater to all levels and preferences: the Petite Ratapignata (7 km), the Ratapignata (13 km), and the Grande Ratapignata (21 km). Each route promises a unique blend of challenging terrain, breathtaking views, and an unforgettable atmosphere.
The Petite Ratapignata is ideal for newcomers to trail running. This 7-kilometer course features over 400 meters of elevation gain and offers stunning vistas of the Nice hills and Baie des Anges. The gentle introduction to technical trails sets a welcoming tone that encourages runners to explore their limits while enjoying a festive environment.
For those seeking more adventure, the Ratapignata (13 km) is designed with experienced trail runners in mind. This route includes single-track paths, steep ascents and descents, ridge-top passages, and playful downhill sections. With 750 meters of elevation gain, it's perfect for a challenging yet enjoyable day out on the trails.
The Grande Ratapignata (21 km) is reserved for those who are well-prepared to tackle demanding terrain. This technical course offers over 1300 meters of elevation change and includes iconic features like the passage near Falicon’s mythical pyramid and grotto, ensuring panoramic views at every turn. The race promises adrenaline-pumping moments and a rewarding sense of accomplishment.
The event takes place in an exceptional setting just outside Nice, where runners will traverse pine forests, limestone cliffs, and enjoy sweeping sea vistas. Organized by the passionate Falicoun Trail Plaisir association, this run celebrates tradition with a lively atmosphere that includes well-placed aid stations and supportive volunteers throughout the day.
Participants can look forward to surprises at the finish line as well as rewards for various categories, ensuring there’s plenty of fun beyond just running. The event encourages runners to dress up in costumes to add to the festive spirit.
Packets will be available for pickup on Saturday from 10:00 AM to noon and again from 3 PM to 5 PM at Brasserie de Nice. For those who pick them up early, remember to bring your packet with you on Sunday morning when registration opens at Hameau des Giaines in Falicon starting at 7:45 AM.
With limited spots available for each course—8:30 AM start for the Grande Ratapignata, followed by the Ratapignata and Petite Ratapignata—the event is sure to fill up quickly. Don’t miss your chance to run through legend and take on the challenge of Trail de la Ratapignata.
