LA SANCY ARC-EN-CIEL BY LAURENT BROCHARD (CYCLOSPORTIVE & GRAVEL)
About the Event
La Sancy Arc-en-Ciel, organized by world champion Laurent Brochard, returns to Chambon-sur-Lac on September 12 and 13, 2026. Nestled within the heart of the Massif du Sancy, this event combines sport, nature, gastronomy, and camaraderie in a unique blend designed for cyclists at all levels and their families. On Saturday, September 13, participants can choose from three cyclosportives: - La Pascal Hervé: A shorter route of 77 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1600 meters. This course pays homage to Laurent's friend and former teammate Pascal Hervé.
- Le Moyen: An intermediate distance covering 100 kilometers, featuring a scenic detour through the stunning Artense plateau and an impressive climb of 1830 meters. - Laurent Brochard Route: The longest option at 154 kilometers with an elevation gain of 2950 meters. This challenging course offers breathtaking landscapes throughout its route. On Sunday, September 14, the event shifts to gravel and family-oriented activities: - Gravel Chrono: A timed challenge over 80 kilometers that includes three special sections designed for speed and safety while allowing time to enjoy the picturesque surroundings.
- P'tite Gravel: A non-timed, unranked ride of 30 kilometers suitable for families. The route is well-marked with clear directions. - Cyclo-Rando Gourmande: A shorter tour at 20 kilometers that includes several climbs and five stops offering local delicacies to rejuvenate riders along the way.
Additionally, a new event called "Josy et les papillons" will take place. This is a family-friendly walk of 12 kilometers with refreshment stations dedicated to raising awareness for Charcot disease. The festival atmosphere includes free childcare services (by reservation), ensuring that families can enjoy cycling without worries. The event also features inclusive activities and local cuisine, such as truffade and ham skewers, highlighting the region's culinary traditions. Entry fees start at €45 for cyclosportive events and €35 for gravel chrono rides. A combined package is available for those interested in participating in both Saturday’s races and Sunday’s gravel event. The cost varies based on registration dates with a price increase after June 15.
