La Transberrichonne Gravel

For the fifth edition of the Transberrichonne Gravel race, runners will encounter an entirely fresh route featuring both challenging dirt roads and smooth gravel tracks. Those who believe they know every inch of the Boischaut Sud from previous editions are in for a surprise as this year’s course unveils new stretches that showcase the region's lesser-known terrain.
The theme of this edition is "Around the Sources of Vauvre," taking participants deep into a secluded and rarely explored valley. The race begins by tracing the winding paths around the sources of the Vauvre river, offering runners an intimate glimpse of its hidden beauty. As the course progresses, it ventures to the southern extremities of Boischaut Sud, where competitors will loop around the river’s tributaries before crossing over to explore the opposite side.
For those in peak condition, a more extended route awaits, leading through the Portes de la Marche and into the rolling hills south of Boischaut. This section features exceptionally smooth gravel paths that glide effortlessly underfoot but can also present some technical challenges along steep sections. The journey culminates with breathtaking views stretching towards both the northern plains and the rugged mountains of La Creuse to the south.
Throughout the race, runners will be immersed in a landscape dominated by polyculture farming and livestock grazing, passing through picturesque “bouchures” (narrow valleys) and following ancient sunken lanes lined with Charolais or Limousin cattle. Occasional sheep herds dot the fields, while panoramic vistas open up unexpectedly from hidden vantage points along the way.
