Embark on the Lake Shelbyville Cycling Challenge, a unique opportunity to test your endurance and scenic routes from April 1st through October 31st. Cover at least 250, 500, or even more miles within this timeframe—each distance level designed for participants of all fitness levels.
The challenge encompasses the beautiful landscapes surrounding Lake Shelbyville in Shelby and Moultrie Counties. While rides outside these areas are accepted, they should be prioritized to fully enjoy the local scenery and trails. Explore a variety of terrains—from rolling hills to picturesque lakeside paths—offering an exhilarating experience for every cyclist.
Register by May 31st to secure your spot in this rewarding journey. Only miles accumulated on outdoor routes count towards the challenge, ensuring authentic cycling experiences. Class 1 e-bikes are permitted, but they must be used responsibly and only on designated paved or oil and chip roads and parts of the General Dacey Trail.
Safety is paramount; a helmet is mandatory for all participants. This challenge operates under an honor system, encouraging honesty in tracking your mileage through Challenge Hound, with codes sent via email before April 1st.
For motivated cyclists, two package options are available: the MVP Package at $35 includes a Lake Shelbyville Cycling T-Shirt and sticker, along with essential tracking tools. The Basic Package for just $10 offers stickers and tracking access, perfect for those looking to support the challenge without additional costs.
