Lakeland Paws: Grizedale half marathon

Welcome back for our fifth season, where we're thrilled to introduce a half marathon route that has been eagerly anticipated by many of you. This 21-kilometer course offers a blend of wide forest pathways and sections of single-track trails, creating an engaging run through the picturesque Coniston area.
The terrain is varied but runnable, with some elevation changes that add excitement without being overly challenging. The route takes runners across both sides of the forest, offering breathtaking views over Coniston Water along the way. For those who prefer a shorter distance, there's also a 12-kilometer option that sticks to the western side of the woodland.
Participants can bring up to two dogs on this course, making it an ideal event for runners and their furry companions alike. However, running solo is equally enjoyable if you're looking for a peaceful experience or just want to focus on your personal best time.
The race will be chip-timed and well-marked to ensure accuracy and safety throughout the run. Additionally, GPX files are available for download, allowing participants to familiarize themselves with the route in advance. With no cut-off times set, runners can take their own pace while enjoying this scenic journey through one of England's most beautiful forests.
