Immerse yourself in the rolling hills and lush forests of Warwickshire at the return of the forest marathon, featuring brand-new routes and checkpoints designed to showcase the region's natural beauty. The race begins and concludes at the historic Memorial Hall on Station Road in Henley-in-Arden. Participants will find ample parking options within a 10-minute walk from the hall, with additional details provided closer to the event date. Public transportation is also available for those who prefer not to drive. Walkers can start their journey as early as 8am, while runners are encouraged to begin before 10am for optimal enjoyment of the scenic terrain. The marathon route spans a challenging yet rewarding 27 miles, with shorter options at 20 miles available for those seeking a slightly less demanding course. Along both routes, three checkpoints await every few miles on the full distance and two along the shorter path, offering essential refreshments including hot and cold beverages as well as snacks to fuel your journey. Upon crossing the finish line, runners will be greeted with a hearty meal, perfect for refueling after their adventure through the forest. For those under 18 years old, it is mandatory that they are accompanied by an adult guardian at all times during the event, and must have written parental consent on file. Additionally, dogs are not permitted along any part of the route to ensure a safe environment for all participants. This autumnal marathon offers runners the chance to experience the vibrant colors and serene atmosphere of early fall in Warwickshire's forests. The landscape features a diverse mix of young saplings, growing trees, mature stands, and established woodland areas, providing an ever-changing backdrop throughout your run. Any surplus funds collected from race registrations will be donated to support the Heart of England Forest project, ensuring that proceeds contribute directly to preserving this natural beauty for future generations.
