Leesten Cross

The Leestencross, originally held in February but now taking place in November, offers runners an equally wintry feel as its traditional timing. This year's edition is not just a warm-up for the Midwinterrun but serves perfectly as a training loop beforehand.
Located behind Ugchelen, this event isn't about competition; it’s simply a delightful and relaxed run through one of the Netherlands' top 10 running spots. The course features beautiful forest paths, sandy trails, and heathland routes with enough hills to provide an engaging challenge without getting lost in muddy pools. Participants can enjoy testing their fitness or race form on these scenic tracks.
The route culminates with a stunning view over the heather-filled landscape, making for a memorable finish line experience. With options of 5 km, 10 km, and 15 km loops, runners have plenty to choose from depending on their preference and training goals. All distances start at 11:00 AM.
Registration fees are as follows:
- 5 km: €10
- 10 km: €11
- 15 km: €12
After October 28, there will be an additional charge of €2 for each distance. Online registration remains open until 30 minutes before the start time and allows multiple participants to sign up at once.
For AV Veluwe members registering for either the 10 or 15 km distances, automatic entry into the Club Championship Cross 2026 is granted. In the case of the 15 km run, your completion time on the 10 km segment will count towards this championship qualification. Don't forget to select 'Veluwe' under ‘Atletiekunie-Vereniging’ during registration.
