About the Event

Running and walking return to the historic streets of Leiden on May 9 and 10, 2026. The 35th edition of the Leiden Marathon starts and finishes in the city center — with the iconic Koninginnelaan as the launch point for the full marathon, half marathon, and 10 km, while the 5 km and Kidsrun take off from the Johnson & Johnson Park at the Garenmarkt.

Event Logistics & Participant Information:

Half marathon (21 km) is sold out. No more starting numbers available.
Full marathon (42 km), 10 km, 5 km, and Kidsrun still open for registration.
Race pack pickup and starting number collection details available via the marathon agency.
Course highlights: Leiden’s historic city center, canals, and surrounding polder landscapes.
Five distances across two days: Saturday night 5 km + Kidsrun, Sunday full marathon, half, and 10 km.
All races finish at the Vismarkt (except the 5 km and Kidsrun, which finish at Garenmarkt).
Organized by a board + marathon agency + over 1,100 volunteers.
SWIS is the new main sponsor of the full marathon.
Free Kidsrun for children — no registration fee.
