The Liberty Loop 5K Run/Walk returns to Northbrook, Illinois on July 4th, offering a scenic run or walk through Techny Prairie Park and Fields and Meadowhill Park. This event is part of an annual holiday tradition that attracts both seasoned runners and casual walkers.
Race morning finds the park with its usual charm, especially in early summer when the sun casts golden light over rolling fields and tranquil prairies. The air will be cool at 7:30am, providing a comfortable start for participants as they warm up on the familiar paths of Techny Prairie Park.
Since its inception in 2015, the Liberty Loop has grown to become one of Northbrook's most anticipated events. In 2026, over 1,400 participants are expected to take part, supporting local charities and scholarships that benefit the community. The race not only brings together runners but also fosters a sense of camaraderie among residents.
The course venue is Techny Prairie Park, featuring a hard and dry surface suitable for all. It begins and finishes at Meadowhill Park, with the route weaving through diverse landscapes including meadows and fields. Participants can expect to see the Trail Through Time, marking notable points in history as they run or walk along this scenic path.
On race day, temperatures will average around 22.6°C but may feel slightly cooler due to a mild breeze averaging 11 km/h.
