Immerse yourself in the rugged beauty of Denmark’s coastline with 'Lillebælt 55', a unique trail running experience that celebrates the Danish coastal landscape. Set along the shores of Lillebælt, this autumn race invites runners to explore 55 kilometers of scenic and challenging terrain. Scheduled for Saturday, November 14, 2026, participants will face an array of natural elements as they navigate through sand dunes, fallen trees, chilly sea waters, and potentially inclement weather. The route is not marked with traditional flags or signs; instead, runners must download a GPS file to their phone or watch for navigation purposes. The race starts at 9:00 AM after an early morning bus transfer from the registration point near Middelfart Marina. A brief briefing will precede the start, ensuring all participants are prepared for the day ahead. The event concludes with a celebratory atmosphere and recognition of every finisher’s achievement through a unique medal crafted to honor local Danish craftsmanship. With a maximum race time limit of 9 hours (cut-off at 5:00 PM), runners must come equipped with appropriate gear, including waterproof clothing, warm headwear, hydration systems capable of holding at least one liter of water, and first aid supplies. Mobile phones are also essential for safety measures along the route. Three strategically placed depots will offer refreshments such as water, coffee, energy bars, fruit, and snacks to keep runners fueled throughout their journey. Participants should bring reusable cups since there won’t be any disposable containers available at these stops. As part of respecting nature, all runners are expected to leave no trace behind and assist fellow competitors when necessary. Public restrooms will be accessible along the route near Varbjerg Strand, Baaring strand, Strib Nordstrand (Siphiæodde), Middelfart gammelhavn, Fænø Odde, and other designated spots. Registration for this exclusive event is limited to 30 runners on a first-come-first-served basis. The start location may either be at Føns Strandvej or near the Middelfart Marina, with updates provided closer to race day. Please note that participation in 'Lillebælt 55' involves personal responsibility for safety and health risks associated with trail running under varying weather conditions. Join us this autumn as we embrace the wild beauty of Denmark’s coastline through a run unlike any other! For more detailed information, visit our event page on Facebook.
