BRAZOS VALLEY GRAND CRU - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SINGLESPEED GRAVEL CHALLENGE Pay Nothing. Give Everything. v. 2026.10.08 Key Points: Pay nothing to participate, but prepare yourself for an intense and exhilarating experience. This year's event will feature a challenging 53-mile singlespeed-only course with a new twist: the addition of a fun 30-mile ride where gears are welcome. Schedule: Friday, October 7, 2026 18:00 - Check-in at The Brazos Tap (420 N College St, College Station, TX) Saturday, October 8, 2026 9:00 - Check-in and pre-race meet-up at The Brazos Tap 9:35 - As the start line comes into view on historic Brazos Street, take a moment to gather your thoughts. Ensure your tires are in top condition; they'll need all the support you can give them. 10:00 - Begin with everything you have and leave it all out there for 53 miles of relentless singletrack and gravel roads through some of Texas' most scenic landscapes. Route: The course, subject to minor adjustments, will take racers through a mix of B-roads, offering varied terrain from smooth sections to sketchy mud patches. Expect approximately 4,000 feet of climbing, with several aid stations providing much-needed sustenance and hydration along the way. Rules: You must be present at the finish line to claim your prize. Bolt-on aerobars are not allowed; singlespeed bikes only (gears welcome on the fun ride). No outside support unless available to all racers, who may assist each other. Race Day Logistics: A pre-assigned friend or enemy will pick you up in case of an issue. Transportation is not provided by race organizers, so ensure someone knows your status if you fail to finish. Podiums and Prizes: Big budget podiums with trophies for the fastest riders in each category. The overall champion receives a special DFL (Determined, Focused, Loyal) jersey, signifying their dedication and hard work. KOM (King of Mountain) honors will be awarded as well. Course Details: The 53-mile championship route remains a secret until final confirmation, while the fun ride's details are being finalized. Both courses will lack formal checkpoints but require crossing chipless timing mats for accurate splits on the live satellite feed to The Brazos Tap. Quitting: If you need to quit, call or text your pre-assigned friend/enemy at 979-554-2368. Inform Chris Kyhl of your status as well by texting him at 979-123-4567.
