About the Event
The Lincolnshire Cyclo-Cross Association kicks off its 2026/27 season with Round 1 on November 22, 2026. This inaugural race welcomes riders from around the globe to partake in a day of challenging terrain and spirited competition. Registration for all events opens six weeks prior to the event date, ensuring ample time for participants to secure their spots regardless of whether they're local or traveling from afar. To enter, you must be registered with the Lincs CX Association through RiderHQ, which is open to anyone interested in joining this dynamic cycling community. The race day features a variety of categories designed to cater to different levels and ages: - Youth Races: The event begins at 10:15 AM with races for Youth U14/U16 lasting 30 minutes. This segment sets the tone for an exciting morning as young cyclists tackle technical sections, muddy climbs, and fast descents. Following immediately after is a special Novice race starting at 10:17 AM, designed specifically for those new to cyclo-cross who may feel hesitant about diving into competitive racing. Open to riders aged 12 and above, this category allows adults and kids to compete together in a supportive environment with no pressure or prizes involved. Participants can use any off-road bike—cyclocross, gravel, mountain—but balance bikes and unicycles are not permitted. - Junior Races: The U9 race begins at 11:00 AM for approximately 10-12 minutes, offering a shorter but equally challenging course to introduce the youngest riders to cyclo-cross. This is followed by an extended session from 11:20 AM to 11:35 AM with races for U12 participants. The main event starts at noon when both OPEN Juniors, Seniors & Masters and FEMALE Juniors, Seniors & Masters take the course. These races run concurrently for a full 50 minutes each and are designed to test the skills of more experienced riders on technical tracks that include steep climbs, slippery descents, and tight turns. For those new to cyclo-cross or seeking an introduction to racing, the Novice race offers a relaxed environment where officials provide support and feedback throughout. This category is open for up to five races before participants are encouraged to move into more advanced categories based on their performance and comfort level. The Lincolnshire Cyclo-Cross Association Round 1 promises not only competitive action but also an inclusive atmosphere, making it the perfect event for both seasoned racers looking to kick off a new season and newcomers eager to explore this thrilling discipline.
