Longworth 10k 2026

About the Event

The Longworth 10K, an annual race organized by the dedicated team at Longworth Runners since 1998 (with a brief hiatus during the pandemic year of 2020), offers runners a picturesque journey through rolling Oxfordshire countryside and along the banks of the Thames. Set in the charming village of Longworth, this scenic course takes participants on an adventure that combines diverse terrains, from gravel tracks to grassy paths by the river.
The race begins at the eastern end of the village on a gravel track before winding its way through lush landscapes. Runners will encounter gentle climbs and descents as they traverse fields and follow the Thames Path for much of the course's length. The route is marked with kilometre markers every kilometer, ensuring runners stay informed about their progress.
Water stations are strategically placed at approximately 3km and 8km to keep participants hydrated during their run. At these points, volunteers provide essential support, helping ensure everyone stays on track for a successful race day experience.
Upon crossing the finish line outside the stunning Longworth Manor, all runners will be rewarded with free artisan ice cream from The Oxford Cow, adding a sweet touch to an already delightful event. For families, there's also a special kids' fun run where parents can join their children in completing both races for the chance to win the prestigious Cow & Calf Cup.
Race day registration at the Village Hall offers pre-registered runners quick access to their race numbers and on-site assistance for newcomers who need to complete an entry form. Changing facilities, toilets, drinking water, and bag storage are all available at the hall, making it easy for participants to focus solely on enjoying the run itself.
To ensure a smooth start time of 11:00am sharp, runners should arrive by 10:15 am to park their cars and complete any necessary registration. If you're unsure about directions, setting your SatNav to OX13 5DU will guide you straight into the heart of Longworth.
This multi-terrain course is not recommended for running with baby strollers or dogs due to safety concerns on uneven paths that may become slippery if wet conditions arise. Participants are encouraged to warm up adequately and proceed carefully throughout their journey through this historic race in a beautiful setting.
For those interested, previous year's results can be found online at the Longworth Village website, offering insight into past performances and providing inspiration for future races.
With its rich history and welcoming atmosphere, The Longworth 10K promises an unforgettable running experience that combines natural beauty with community spirit.
The event is limited to a maximum of 200 runners per year. On-the-day entries are accepted until this limit is reached.
