Experience the charm of Maine's mid-coast region at our 4th annual Maine Maple Sunday Ride, set for Saturday, with an alternative date on Sunday if needed. This year’s route is a loop through picturesque back roads and state routes, covering approximately 60 miles—perfectly suited for road or gravel bikes. The ride offers a mix of varied terrain, including some climbs that will challenge your endurance while rewarding you with breathtaking views. The route features stops at five sugar shacks and the iconic Sheepscot General Store, providing opportunities to refuel amidst stunning landscapes. Depending on your fitness level and the number of treats enjoyed along the way, participants can expect a ride duration ranging from 3 to 6 hours. For those seeking less intensity, there's also a shorter loop option with about 30 miles. This route includes one significant climb that will test your leg strength while building your early-season conditioning. All registrants receive a gpx file via email for both loops, ensuring you have the best navigation experience possible. The event is rain or shine; if weather conditions are too severe to proceed as planned, participants can choose from several options: deferring to next year's ride, transferring their registration to another event like The Nelson Farm Weekend or Fon Solo gravel ride in autumn, or donating funds to support trail maintenance at the Schmid Preserve. Proceeds from this event will benefit local trails and preserve efforts. Join us for a day filled with beautiful scenery, rich history, and community spirit.
