Welcome to the Manchester Airport Duathlon, your gateway into multisport excitement. This event is tailored for newcomers and seasoned athletes alike, offering an inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels welcome regardless of their background or experience level. Set against the backdrop of Ashley Village near Manchester Airport, this duathlon combines serene countryside cycling with a unique running course that winds through runway tunnels — an unforgettable setting not found anywhere else in the region. The bike route takes you on scenic country lanes around Ashley, Mobberley, and Wilmslow, providing smooth riding surfaces and picturesque views. The run portion is laid out as two out-and-back loops, offering plenty of space to find your rhythm while enjoying the supportive cheers from spectators lining the course. Both distances are designed to be accessible for beginners but still challenging enough for more experienced athletes looking to sharpen their skills early in the season. For those new to multisport events, the Super Sprint distance is an ideal introduction, providing a relaxed and encouraging environment where you can focus on learning the ropes without feeling overwhelmed. Meanwhile, the Sprint distance caters to individuals with some experience under their belts or anyone seeking a more competitive edge. The event takes place from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, creating an engaging community atmosphere as supporters and participants cheer each other throughout the morning. With fully signposted routes and clear marshalling along both legs of the race, you can focus on enjoying your experience without worrying about navigation details. To ensure a smooth start, please arrive between 30 to 45 minutes before your scheduled wave time — 9:00 am for Sprint or 10:00 am for Super Sprint. This allows ample opportunity for parking (free with registration), checking in at the venue, warming up, and setting up transition areas. Our team will guide you through every step of the process, from race number collection to bike setup and hydration station placement. Transition is clearly marked, ensuring a seamless flow between cycling and running legs. Spectators are warmly invited to join us; there’s nothing quite like crossing the finish line with cheers echoing in your ears! Friends and family can also enjoy this special morning out while cheering on participants from start to finish. On race day, remember that safety is paramount. The run course features left-hand side running etiquette for safe overtaking maneuvers, ensuring a smooth flow of traffic throughout both legs of the event. Cyclists must adhere strictly to helmet regulations before handling their bikes and follow designated mount/dismount zones outside transition areas. As you approach the finish line where your journey began, celebrate with water and sweets provided at the end. This is more than just an athletic challenge; it’s a celebration of personal growth and community spirit in multisport racing. Whether this marks your first duathlon or another milestone in your training regimen, we’re excited to welcome you to the Manchester Airport Duathlon family. We look forward to seeing you there!

About Manchester
Learn more about the host city, Manchester.
Manchester is a vibrant, post-industrial gem at the heart of North West England. The city that used to be nicknamed 'Cottonopolis' has hung up its clogs and, thanks to successive regeneration projects, is now a major centre for culture and commerce; seen by many as the capital of the north of England, and sometimes regarded as England's second city.
