Marston Mega Cross #4 promises an exhilarating day of off-road cycling for riders of all skill levels on Sunday, August 16th at Marston Lodge. The race kicks off at 11:30 AM and continues for a thrilling three hours plus one lap, providing participants with the opportunity to tackle diverse terrain while pushing their limits. The course, which winds through grasslands, stone tracks, and woodlands, offers an exceptional mix of challenges that cater to both solo riders and relay teams. Solo racers will compete on their own, while pairs can strategize a relay-style approach for added excitement. The loop is approximately 6 to 8 kilometers long, presenting varied elevation changes and technical sections. Entry fees are £35 for individual participants and £55 for tandem teams. Non-members of British Cycling can still join by purchasing a day license for just £3. All riders must hold at least a junior BC Licence or higher. The event welcomes all types of off-road bikes, including cyclocross, gravel, and mountain bikes with tires 700x33mm or larger. Participants are required to wear helmets throughout the race and can pre-ride the course from 9:30 AM onward. Race day activities begin at 9:00 AM when Marston Lodge opens its doors for early arrivals. Sign-on starts promptly at 9:30 AM, allowing ample time for last-minute preparations before the briefing at 11:25 AM. The mass start follows shortly after as competitors line up to embark on their adventure. A dedicated pit area is provided near the finish line where relay teams can complete transitions and solo riders may leave race food or spares if needed. Feeding along the course is allowed, but participants are urged to be mindful of fellow racers' space while ensuring all litter is properly disposed of. While prizes have yet to be finalized, spot awards will certainly add an extra layer of excitement for those vying for recognition among their peers. Spectators are encouraged to cheer on riders and enjoy the scenic setting that Marston Lodge offers.
