About the Event

Explore the historic trails of a former Army post and push your limits in a friendly, fixed-time format at the community-focused McClellan Madness on March 7, 2026. Celebrating its 5th anniversary, this unique 4-hour and 8-hour event takes runners on a 4.1-mile loop of runnable, non-technical singletrack through the wooded landscape of the old Fort McClellan in Anniston, Alabama. In a fun twist for the anniversary year, the loop will be run counter-clockwise, offering a fresh perspective on the gently rolling 300-foot elevation gain per lap. The atmosphere is laid-back and supportive, with a fully stocked, cupless aid station at the start/finish featuring grilled cheese, vegan options, and all the classic ultra snacks to fuel your efforts.

The event cleverly incorporates distance challenges, offering special awards for runners who complete a 25K within the 4-hour window or a 50K within the 8-hour window, adding tangible milestones to the timed format. With on-site packet pickup, the option to set up a personal aid station, and a soft t-shirt for participants, the race emphasizes camaraderie and personal achievement over fierce competition. This is the perfect event for runners new to timed ultras or those seeking a low-pressure, early-season test on forgiving trails with a fantastic and encouraging community. Lace up for a day of "madness" that's more about fun, fuel, and friendly miles than sheer speed.
