About the Event

Join us for a FREE bike rodeo Saturday, April 11th from 10 AM - 2 PM!

Bike Walk Golden Isles, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is partnering up with the McIntosh County Family Connection for a bike rodeo at McIntosh County Recreation Dept. Gym.

Bike rodeos teach essential bike safety and on-bike handling skills using proven strategies to increase bicyclist confidence, safety, and ability. BWGI will be onsite leading this activity. The curriculum is designed for children and youth ages 3-12 -- All ages and skill levels are welcome!

BWGI recommends riders bring their own bike for this event, but there will be a small bike library on site for riders to borrow as needed on a first come, first served basis.

Helmets are required for this event.

BWGI will provide FREE bike helmets with helmet safety education to any rider who lacks this essential safety equipment thanks to funding from the GA Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS).

Darien is a city in and the county seat of McIntosh County, Georgia, United States. It lies on Georgia's coast at the mouth of the Altamaha River, approximately 50 miles south of Savannah, and is part of the Brunswick, Georgia metropolitan statistical area. It is the second-oldest planned city in Georgia and was originally called New Inverness. The population of Darien was 1,460 at the 2020 census, down from 1,975 in 2010.
