The MissionCleanWater Westfield Ultra returns to Tamaques Park in Westfield, NJ for its sixth year, offering endurance enthusiasts the chance to challenge themselves across various distances and terrains. This unique race invites participants to run as many loops around the park as they can manage within a 3-hour, 6-hour, 9-hour, 12-hour, or even an all-encompassing 24-hour timeframe. Tamaques Park provides a versatile course with both paved paths and gravel trails. Each loop measures .8 miles, allowing runners to choose their preferred surface for each lap. The race start and finish line are conveniently located at the main parking lot next to the tennis courts and playground, where participants can park and set up gear in advance. This year’s event introduces a fundraising component, offering those who raise $500 towards MissionCleanWater's clean water projects not only full refunds but also guaranteed entry into future races. Interested runners should contact James@missioncleanwater.org to create their personal donation page. The race kicks off at 9am sharp with check-in and gear drop-off recommended before 8:30 am, giving participants ample time to familiarize themselves with the course layout and set up any necessary supplies near the start/finish area. Volunteers will be on site as early as 6:30 am to assist with setup. For those tackling the 24-hour challenge, specific rules apply: 1. Nighttime runners must use headlamps and reflective vests. 2. Only 24-hour participants are allowed tents, which can only be set up near sunset. 3. Support teams should minimize travel during nighttime hours whenever possible to respect quiet time starting at 8pm. Participants have the freedom to bring their own support crew members who will help manage supplies like coolers and shade structures throughout the event. Pacers are also welcome for added assistance on longer distances. The race organizers provide a comprehensive aid station with snacks, prepared food, ice, water, electrolytes, first-aid kits, and hot weather gear. MissionCleanWater is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to bringing clean drinking water and sanitation solutions to underserved communities both domestically and internationally. By participating in the Westfield Ultra, runners contribute directly to this cause through their registration fees, which are considered donations towards MissionCleanWater’s ongoing efforts. Race medals will be awarded upon completion of each event category, with 24-hour finishers having a chance at earning an exclusive 100-mile belt buckle. Registration after July 15th may not guarantee race medals due to limited availability. Refunds are generally unavailable but can be granted in the case of injury or by meeting the $500 fundraising requirement. This year’s sponsors include The Fieldhouse, SweatHouz, Once Upon a Coconut, and Ciele Athletics, each providing valuable support for this impactful event.
