On Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 9:30 AM, Meltham AC is set to launch its inaugural Tough Trail race. This challenging trail event replaces the beloved Cop Hill fell race and promises a thrilling course for runners of all levels. The route covers an impressive distance of 11 kilometers with a total ascent of 453 meters over mixed terrain that includes rugged hills, winding trails, and scenic landscapes. The starting point is Red Lane in Meltham, which can be reached by a short ten-minute walk from the registration area at the Meltham Sports and Community Centre on Mean Lane. Registration begins promptly at 8:00 AM with last entries accepted until 9:10 AM. On-site parking will also be available near the community centre to make it easy for participants to arrive and start their journey. Marshals will guide runners from the registration area to the starting line, ensuring a smooth transition. After crossing the finish line, runners can enjoy refreshments and celebrate with fellow competitors in the clubhouse where prizes are awarded. The event offers male and female awards in first through third places across senior categories as well as for veterans aged V40 to V80. Team competitions will also be held, adding an extra layer of excitement. Entry fees vary based on affiliation status: £14 for affiliated runners and £16 for unaffiliated participants. For those looking to push their limits further, Meltham AC is offering a special deal—enter both the Tough Trail in November 2026 and the Tough 10k scheduled for January 31, 2027, at discounted rates of £22 affiliated or £26 unaffiliated (a savings of 20%).
