The Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend, now in its 16th year, offers runners the unique opportunity to experience three distinct races across three scenic towns over one unforgettable Bank Holiday weekend. Set against the backdrop of East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, and Burgess Hill in West Sussex, this event combines challenging terrain with picturesque landscapes. The journey begins on Saturday, May 1st, with a 10-mile race starting in East Grinstead. On Sunday, May 2nd, runners will take to the streets of Haywards Heath for another 10-mile course. The weekend concludes on Monday, May 3rd, as participants complete their marathon experience by running a 10k through Burgess Hill. For those looking to tackle more than one day’s race, there are combo options available: run all three races and earn the title of Mid Sussex Marathon finisher or take part in the Triple Mile event. Each town offers its own unique atmosphere with undulating terrain that challenges runners while rewarding them with stunning views at every turn. In addition to these main events, each day features a timed Mid Sussex Mile race open to anyone aged seven years and older. For younger participants and newcomers to running, there’s also the family-friendly Mid Sussex Fun Run, complete with fancy dress options for added fun. Detailed route maps are available online along with GPX files for those who prefer to plan ahead or navigate on their own devices during the races. The event is known for its strong volunteer support, ensuring that runners receive assistance and encouragement throughout each day’s race. Participants in the virtual marathon can complete their distance between April 17th at 10:00 AM and May 3rd at 6:00 PM. All results must be submitted to virtual@nice-work.org.uk by the deadline, after which medals will be awarded upon verification of performance. The event offers a series of bespoke medals for each race as well as special awards for the Mile and Fun Run participants. Trophies and prizes are also up for grabs, adding an extra element of excitement to the already thrilling weekend.
