The Plaza Midwood Neighborhood Association is thrilled to present the inaugural Midwood Mile on September 26, 2026. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Charlotte’s Arts+ Community Campus at The Plaza (2304 The Plaza), this event promises a memorable evening for runners and their families alike. Race participants will gather at 4:00 PM to kick off with the Family Mile, an inclusive event that encourages all ages to celebrate running. Following closely are the Women's Mile starting at 4:20 PM and the Men's Mile beginning at 4:30 PM. Each race is designed for speed, camaraderie, and community spirit. The finish line awaits runners just before Hamorton Place on Landis Avenue, where they will be greeted by cheers from spectators and a warm welcome to the After Party hosted at Resident Culture (2100 Central Ave). The post-race celebration offers a chance to unwind in the beer garden with live music and festivities starting immediately after 4:30 PM. Registration includes more than just an entry into the race; participants will receive a commemorative shirt, and all finishers under age 13 are guaranteed a special Midwood Mile finisher medal. Additionally, runners have the opportunity to claim prizes at each heat's award ceremony shortly after 5:00 PM. For those who complete their races, a free drink voucher awaits redemption at Resident Culture on Saturday, September 27th until 10 PM. This perk includes a selection of soft drinks and craft beverages such as Ginger’s Revenge, Red Clay Cider, and various offerings from the resident brewery lineup like Cümulo, N.A.R.C., and Resident Culture's own handcrafted beers. Awards are up for grabs in each mile race with top three male and female finishers winning gift cards worth $100, $50, and $25 respectively. The Family Mile adds a unique twist by offering age group winners from 5 to 12 years old the chance to win $25 gift certificates to Toys & Sweets. Join us in Plaza Midwood for an evening that blends competition with community celebration. Whether you're racing or cheering, this event is crafted to be an unforgettable part of Charlotte's lively race calendar.
