The Miles for Mark 5K Run/1 Mile Walk returns to Collegeville, Pennsylvania on October 3rd, a poignant event honoring the memory of Mark Tripodi and supporting mental health awareness. The race begins at Palmer Park in Skippack, PA, with an early morning start that sets the tone for a day filled with remembrance and community solidarity.
As runners lace up their shoes and walkers prepare to embark on this meaningful journey through Collegeville’s streets, they step into a landscape defined by autumn hues and crisp air. The route winds past familiar landmarks like Bakers on Broad and Blossom Cafe, places where Mark left his mark in the form of loyal patronage and warm smiles. The park itself is imbued with energy as participants gather to celebrate life and commemorate loss. This year marks the fourth anniversary since Mark’s passing, a moment that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant.
Each edition of Miles for Mark has seen an increasing number of attendees drawn by its mission and spirit. Last year's event welcomed over 300 runners and walkers who joined together not just to run but also to raise awareness about suicide prevention and mental health issues. The Miles for Mark 5K Run follows a scenic route through Collegeville, featuring paved roads with slight elevation changes and flat stretches along familiar pathways around Palmer Park. The terrain is firm yet slightly soft underfoot, providing a balanced challenge to runners of all levels. Participants start at the corner of Ridge Road and High Street, where signs will direct them towards the park for an easy transition from registration area to racecourse. Aid stations are strategically placed every mile along the route, offering water and snacks to keep everyone fueled as they move through their run.
Weather conditions on October 3rd typically feature mild temperatures around 14.5°C with occasional breezes that help cool runners during their effort. The trail is firm but soft enough for a comfortable stride without excessive fatigue from hard surfaces. Fees are $25 per participant with no charge for children under 10 who wish to walk or run alongside their families. Bib pickup will take place on the day of the event from 7:30 AM onwards at Palmer Park's main entrance, where participants can collect their race number and timing chip along with any additional information needed.
Participants are advised to arrive early for bib collection and familiarize themselves with the route layout posted near registration tents.
