The Miles for Mudcutters Virtual 5K is a community fundraiser supporting the Florida Mudcutters, the nonprofit volunteer organization responsible for building, maintaining, and improving the mountain biking trails at Caloosahatchee Regional Park in Alva, Florida.

Recently, the Mudcutters experienced the theft of approximately $5,000 worth of professional-grade landscaping and trail-maintenance equipment. These are the tools their volunteers use throughout the year to clear trails, perform routine maintenance, make repairs, improve existing routes, and build new trail sections.

The work does not happen because a county maintenance crew shows up and takes care of it.

It happens because volunteers do.

The Florida Mudcutters donate countless hours of labor to keep these trails open, usable, and enjoyable for the Southwest Florida outdoor community.

And runners benefit from that work too.

Caloosahatchee Regional Park provides one of the only true trail-running experiences available in Southwest Florida. Multiple running events utilize these trails throughout the year, including events produced by Apex Promoz and other organizations throughout the region.

Every time runners race these trails, train on them, or simply head out for a weekend run, we are benefiting from work performed by the Mudcutters and their volunteers.

Now they need our help.

How Miles for Mudcutters Works
This is a 100% virtual 5K.

There is no scheduled physical race and no designated race location or start time.

Complete your 5K wherever and whenever works for you. Run it, walk it, hit your favorite trail, use a treadmill, or grab some friends and complete the miles together.

The location is not what matters.

The miles represent our support for the people who help maintain the trails our community gets to enjoy.

Why We're Doing It
Our goal is simple:

Help the Florida Mudcutters replace the equipment that was stolen and get their volunteers back to work maintaining the trails.

Approximately $5,000 in professional-grade equipment needs to be replaced. These tools are essential for normal trail maintenance, clearing vegetation and storm debris, repairing damaged sections, and continuing improvements throughout the trail system.

The Florida Mudcutters have invested thousands of volunteer hours into these trails.

This is an opportunity for the running community to return the favor.

One Outdoor Community
Mountain bikers and trail runners may experience these trails differently, but we depend on the same people and the same infrastructure.
