Miles for Smiles

On Thursday, July 30th, Forestview Middle School will host Miles For Smiles, a vibrant and inclusive 5K run that doubles as an uplifting community gathering. The event welcomes runners, walkers, and bikers to traverse familiar routes while supporting the vital mission of spreading awareness about mental health and suicide prevention.
The race begins at 5:30 PM after registration opens at 4 PM for both online registrants and those who prefer in-person check-in on race day. Participants can expect a range of free outdoor activities starting from early afternoon, including yard games, a bounce house, rock painting stations, chalk art zones, and much more to engage the entire family.
A highlight this year is the introduction of a Color Run element, where runners will pass through color stations along the course. Volunteers will gently toss colored powder onto participants as they run by, creating an unforgettable visual experience that adds joy and fun to the event. Those who prefer not to get covered in color can simply walk around these stations or inform volunteers to avoid any unwanted coverage.
Registration fees are $30 for adults aged 14 years and older and $10 for children under age 13, with race day registration costing $35. Race t-shirts will be guaranteed only if participants register before July 10th.
Proceeds from Miles For Smiles directly support the mission of Smiles For Jake, an initiative dedicated to reducing suicide rates by promoting positivity and mental health resources within communities. A portion of these funds also benefits The Gracie Lee Fund, which honors Grace Elizabeth Lee’s memory by providing assistance to families affected by critical illnesses or loss.

Participants are encouraged to wear older clothes and shoes as colored powder may stain fabrics temporarily but is designed to wash out easily with water.
