Celebrate the mathematical constant π on Sunday, December 14th, 2024, with the Mince Pi Run at Shalford Park in Guildford. This unique race offers runners the chance to tackle distances inspired by π, ranging from a fun-filled 3.14 miles (one lap) up to an impressive 31.4 miles (ten laps), all on scenic off-road paths that wind through picturesque landscapes. For those who prefer shorter distances, there's also a one-mile mini run shaped like the symbol of pi for younger participants aged under twelve years old. The course is designed with varying terrain, including gentle hills and flat stretches along waterways, providing an engaging challenge while maintaining accessibility for runners of all abilities. Participants will enjoy bespoke Pi Pie medals upon completion, combining a sweet treat with a memorable keepsake that celebrates the spirit of the event. Juniors aged 8 to 15 are welcome on specific loops tailored to their age group: 8-11 year-olds can complete one lap, while those between 12 and 14 years old may run two laps. For older juniors up to 15 years, four laps offer a more challenging experience. The race starts at Shalford Park with registration opening from 08:00 AM on the day for number collection and a briefing scheduled for 08:50 AM, followed by the start of races at precisely 9:00 AM. The mini run will commence shortly before or after this time. Parking is available in several nearby car parks within walking distance from Shalford Park; however, note that some areas are reserved exclusively for football players with block bookings. An alternative option close to race headquarters is the Millbrook car park located at GU1 3XL, just half a mile away. Runners should ensure their numbers are visible on the front of their clothing throughout the event to facilitate lap tracking and timing. The course features mostly flat terrain but includes some points where paths may be slightly eroded; extra caution is advised in these areas as they border waterways. Post-race, results will be made available online promptly after the race concludes, with a goal of publishing them within 24 hours for participants to review their performance. Join us and embrace the unique blend of mathematics and athletics at this festive event!

About Guildford
Learn more about the host city, Guildford.
Guildford is a large town in Surrey in the South East of England. It has retained much of its historical charm. A short walk up the cobbled high street shows many buildings which are hundreds of years old. The medieval castle was used by the King of England in the 1400s and because of this Guildford is the only royal town in Surrey.
