Mini Mountain Challenge

In July 2026, the Mini Mountain Challenge returns to Sunday River on July 26, offering young adventurers aged 4 to 12 an exhilarating day of fun and challenges. This scaled-down version of the renowned Tough Mountain Challenge is tailored specifically for kids who are eager to test their limits in a safe and engaging environment.
Participants will tackle a variety of terrains including dirt paths, muddy sections, steep hills, and even some snow-covered areas created by snow guns. The course features numerous obstacles designed to be both challenging and enjoyable, such as ball pits filled with colorful balls for playful moments and foam zones that provide an exciting finish line experience. Some brave kids will also get the chance to attempt scaled-down versions of adult obstacles.
The event is meticulously organized into heats based on age groups, ensuring each participant faces challenges appropriate to their physical abilities. This structure allows younger children to start with simpler tasks while older participants can take on more advanced obstacles as they progress through the course lengths and difficulty levels increase accordingly.
With everything happening within the same venue that hosts the full Tough Mountain event, young competitors will have a chance to soak in the atmosphere of an adult race day without facing its full intensity.
