The Autumn Blaze Run, scheduled for November 14, 2026, takes place in the picturesque Washington, District of Columbia, at Fletcher’s Cove. Nestled in the city's northwest neighborhood, this green space offers a serene backdrop and personal significance to the Miriam’s Kitchen Outreach Team.
On race morning, runners gather amidst the early autumn chill, with temperatures around 8°C creating an invigorating start to their journey. The clear skies promise breathtaking views of the city skyline from various vantage points along the route. Participants will pass by iconic landmarks such as the historic Tidal Basin and the majestic Washington Monument.
This event, now in its fifth year, has grown significantly since its inception. Last year saw more than 2,500 participants from diverse backgrounds come together to support essential causes. The race honors Waldon Adams, a community leader known for his passion for housing justice and running; his legacy is celebrated through this annual run.
The course offers both challenges and rewards with a mix of paved paths and trails that wind through Fletcher’s Cove. It includes the 10K (6.2 miles) and 5K (3.1 miles), along with a shorter 500m dash for those looking to participate in the fun but not commit fully. A virtual option is also available, allowing runners from anywhere to join in.
The race begins at Fletcher’s Cove with cheering families and friends lining the streets to support participants. Water stations are placed every mile for hydration and encouragement until 10:30 am when the event concludes with a celebratory wrap-up on site. Registration fees vary based on distance chosen, ranging from $20.89 for virtual participation without a medal or shirt up to $55.18 for those running in person and wanting all-inclusive perks.

The race is open to runners aged 16 and older due to safety guidelines set by event organizers. First-timers should ensure they have all necessary information ready before arriving on Saturday morning, including a valid ID if required and ensuring their bib number is correctly attached.
