Experience an exhilarating run through Derbyshire’s diverse landscapes with the inaugural Rab-sponsored Monsal Dale and Fin Cop Trail Race. This 9.5-kilometer course is designed to test your endurance as it begins on flat, fast trails winding along Monsal Dale before transitioning into a challenging ascent up and descent down Fin Cop. The second half of the race features an intense climb back uphill towards Monsal Head for the final push to the finish line. This unique layout offers runners a blend of speed and strength-building terrain that showcases both the scenic beauty and rugged nature of Derbyshire’s Peak District. Registration takes place at The Stables, Monsal Head in Bakewell from 9:00am until 10:40am on race day, with parking available nearby. Participants are encouraged to carpool as street parking is limited; a large paid public car park near the registration area provides ample space and includes facilities. Competitors must adhere strictly to Fell Runners Association (FRA) rules, which prohibit the use of GPS navigation or poles during the event. Dogs are also not permitted on this course. It’s important for runners to carry their full FRA kit as conditions may require it, though enforcement will be based on weather and trail conditions. The race is open to all adults aged 18 years and older with a maximum capacity of 250 participants. Prizes will be awarded in various categories including individual male/female winners across different age groups (M Open, F Open, MU23, FU23, M40, F40, M50, F50, M60, F60, M70, and F70) as well as team awards sponsored by the Inov-8 Bakewell Store and Voom Nutrition. For more detailed information about race day logistics including a map of the course, visit our website. Remember to familiarize yourself with all rules outlined on the FRA’s official site before joining this exciting new event in 2026. Please be respectful of local residents when parking along Castlegate Lane (B6465) and considerate of their needs during race day activities.
