MORALOPPET 2027

Moraloppet is an iconic long-distance ski race that challenges athletes with its scenic and historic course, stretching from Oxberg to Mora Skidstadion. This classic event covers a distance of 42 kilometers, tracing the same route as Vasaloppet’s segment 45.
The journey begins at the picturesque Oxberg start site on January 13th, where participants will embark upon an exhilarating ski adventure through serene landscapes and charming Swedish countryside. The race follows a loop around Oxbergsjön before heading towards Vasslan and eventually merging onto Vasaloppet’s main trail back to Oxberg.
From there, skiers continue their journey eastward toward Mora Skidstadion, passing through the picturesque village of Hökberg along the way. This section offers stunning views across rolling hills and dense forests, providing a memorable backdrop for this challenging event.
The race is open to both competitive athletes and recreational participants who wish to experience the beauty of winter sports in Sweden. Entries are allocated based on performance history from events like Ski Classics, Vasaloppet, and The Originals - Svenska långloppscupen.
Competitors will enjoy well-equipped rest areas along the route where they can replenish with water and energy drinks at Vasslan, Oxberg, Hökberg, and Eldris. Upon reaching Mora Skidstadion, participants are greeted by a warm welcome from volunteers who offer refreshments such as juice and pastries.
For those traveling from afar, transportation options include a bus service departing from Mora Skidstadion on race morning between 08:30 – 09:15. Buses can also be booked in advance until January 11th via online registration for the return journey to Oxberg start site.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own gear bags which will be transported from the starting line to Mora Skidstadion at the finish line, ensuring that skiers have everything they need without carrying extra weight during the race.
The event recognizes top performers with cash prizes awarded to both male and female competitors who place in the first six positions overall. Additionally, a special mountain prize is given for reaching Hökberg first.
All those completing the course will receive a commemorative medal as a testament to their achievement. Skiers are also invited to use changing facilities equipped with showers at Hemusgården near Mora Skidstadion upon crossing the finish line.

With a start elevation of 227 meters above sea level at Oxberg and finishing slightly lower at 160 meters above sea level near Mora Skidstadion, the race offers varied terrain that tests both endurance and technical skills.
