Mormond Hill Run 2026

The Mormond Hill Run returns this year for its 10th anniversary, promising runners an unforgettable experience as they tackle the challenging yet picturesque route. Set to take place on Sunday, August 16th at 11:00 AM, the race will commence from Ritchie Hall playing field and wind through the stunning buchan countryside.
This event features a total distance of approximately 5.6 miles (9 kilometers) with nearly 600 feet of elevation gain that culminates in breathtaking views of both the coastline and Bennachie mountain range at the summit. Runners will be rewarded for their efforts not only by the scenic beauty but also through various competitive categories.
All finishers can look forward to receiving a bespoke medal upon crossing the line, while top performers will vie for additional prizes such as overall winner trophies, first local Strichen address trophy, and age category awards based on entry numbers. Special recognition goes out to the 1st U18 runner along with male and female placements.
These accolades are made possible thanks to generous sponsorship from Pie Aroma (facebook/piearomastrichen), ensuring that participants can enjoy their hard-earned rewards while supporting local businesses.
Entry fees start at £15, increasing to £20 on race day if not sold out online. No refunds will be issued but exchanges may be considered by the race organizer's discretion. For younger runners under 16 years old, parental or guardian consent is required; those aged 14 and below must have adult accompaniment and prior approval from organizers for entry.
Water stations are conveniently placed at Hunters Lodge atop the hill to help participants stay hydrated throughout their climb. Upon finishing, all racers will receive a bottled water alongside additional refreshments like tea and snacks available by donation towards Ritchie Hall funds. Spectators can also partake in these offerings while supporting runners on site.
Free parking is provided at Ritchie Hall though it may be limited so carpooling is encouraged when possible. Changing facilities including toilets are accessible at the start/finish line for added convenience during event hours.
Race officials will strategically position themselves along key points to ensure participant safety and provide guidance as needed, making adherence crucial throughout the course.
