Nelsons Summit 50/50

The Nelsons Summit 50/50 returns to Salamanca, New York on October 24th, 2026, bringing together runners from across the state for a challenging trail race through Allegany State Park. This year marks the sixth annual event organized by Salt City Trail Racing and supported by Allegany State Park. The park's vast landscapes offer miles of rugged trails that wind through dense forests and rolling hills.
Race morning in Salamanca typically greets runners with cool temperatures around 11 degrees Celsius, often requiring participants to layer up for optimal comfort during the early hours of racing. With an average humidity level at 76%, clouds frequently obscure sunlight as runners make their way along well-marked trails leading from the Art Roscoe warming hut in Red House towards various checkpoints and aid stations.
The event has grown steadily over its five previous years, becoming a significant part of the local running community's calendar. It supports trail sisters initiatives and raises awareness for mountain conservation efforts within Allegany State Park.
