About the Event

Since its inception in 2015, the Nepalgunj Marathon has become more than just a race; it is an emblem of peace, unity, and resilience. Born from the ashes of Nepal's civil war to celebrate the signing of a historic peace treaty, this event serves as a testament to the nation’s capacity for healing and progress. Rooted in local collaboration, the marathon quickly evolved into one of the country’s premier road running events, drawing participants from across Nepal and around the globe.
The race is not just about crossing the finish line; it embodies a commitment to promoting healthy living, fostering community connections, and showcasing the beauty and cultural richness of western Nepal. Over the years, the event has garnered international recognition for its well-organized logistics and its significant contributions to sports culture in the region. As one of Nepal’s largest road-running challenges, the marathon offers runners an unforgettable experience through scenic landscapes that blend rural charm with modern infrastructure.
Participants can look forward to a race course that winds through picturesque villages and bustling streets, offering glimpses into Nepalese life beyond the mountains. The event is more than just a physical challenge; it's a celebration of community spirit and social purpose. With each step taken on this historic route, runners contribute to a legacy of peace and progress in Nepal.
The Nepalgunj Marathon continues to grow and evolve, cementing its status as a must-attend event for both local athletes and international competitors alike. It stands out not only for its competitive nature but also for the profound impact it has on the community and visitors who come together to honor the spirit of peace and unity that defines this remarkable race.
