About the Event

The Northeast Velodrome Summer Championship Series returns for its 2026 edition, offering cyclists an unparalleled racing experience across four exciting dates. Located in the heart of the region's cycling community, this series features a mix of classic track events and thrilling omnium-style races.
Track gates will open at 9 AM on June 6th, June 27th, July 12th, and August 2nd, with racing commencing promptly at 10 AM. The event is open to all categories, from scratch and tempo races to elimination events and points competitions, providing a diverse challenge for every level of cyclist.
The scratch race will see riders compete over the determined number of laps, with top five finishes awarded based on their final position. Points races introduce sprint opportunities every six laps, where cyclists can earn up to 20 bonus points by gaining or losing laps relative to the designated field. The points system doubles for the finish line sprints, ensuring close competition and high drama.
In tempo events, riders will vie for points with each lap offering a unique scoring opportunity. Riders leading after one lap receive two points, while those in second place earn just one point. By the final lap, these scores increase to three, two, and one respectively, adding an extra layer of excitement as racers push themselves towards victory.
Elimination races offer a pulse-pounding finale with riders being eliminated at designated intervals based on their finishing positions. The last rider across the line during each interval faces elimination, until only the final two remain for a sprint to the finish. This race format ensures every lap is crucial and leaves spectators on the edge of their seats.
For those seeking an omnium-style challenge, this series features four races combined into one event, providing a comprehensive test of endurance and skill. Track bikes are required, ensuring fair competition among participants.
Rider sign-in opens 60 minutes before each race starts and closes 15 minutes prior to the first lap. The Northeast Velodrome also offers an omnium scoring system where riders accumulate points across all events for a chance at series victory. Completing all four races earns a valuable five-point bonus, making it essential for serious competitors.
Tiebreakers are determined by placing in each individual event and overall performance within the series. For those who excel in the final race of the series, their superior performances will carry significant weight in determining the ultimate champion.
