New Vision 5K

The New Vision 5K Run/Walk is an annual community event dedicated to supporting New Vision Charter School, a public institution within the Thompson School District. The primary goal of this race is to promote wellness among students and staff by offering opportunities for physical activity throughout the academic year.
New Vision Charter School's Wellness Committee has organized numerous engaging activities designed to encourage healthy living habits. These include monthly health challenges, pedometer competitions, and a running club that fosters camaraderie and motivation among participants. The committee also hosts an annual Wellness Night, which brings together students, staff, and families for interactive workshops on nutrition, fitness, and overall well-being.
Funds raised from the New Vision 5K have been instrumental in implementing various wellness initiatives at the school. Past projects include purchasing grief journals to help students process their emotions, providing flexible seating options that cater to diverse learning needs, installing a tower garden to teach about sustainable agriculture, and creating a running path around the soccer field for year-round exercise opportunities.
In addition, the proceeds have funded drumfit equipment, which combines fitness with rhythmic movement, and a state-of-the-art projector in the new gymnasium. These resources enhance both physical education classes and after-school activities, ensuring that students can engage in enjoyable and effective workouts.
