Newton Road Races 10k & 3k

On Saturday, 24th October 2026, Newton Road Runners invites you to participate in the Newton Road Races, an annual tribute to Cat Gaskell. This year's race will be held on memory lane as runners take part in a 3K and 10K event along the scenic Clyde path.
The route begins at Westburn Hall in Cambuslang and follows a flat course with only minor elevation changes due to a couple of small hills, making it ideal for both competitive athletes and recreational runners. The well-maintained tarmac surface ensures a smooth run without any interruptions from traffic or road crossings, allowing participants to focus solely on their pace.
Cat Gaskell was an active member of Newton Road Runners until her untimely passing in August 2021. This event serves as a poignant reminder of Cat's passion for running and provides runners with the opportunity to honour her memory through participation.
In collaboration with Stomp Socks, this year’s race offers exciting prizes alongside official certification from Scottish Athletics and chip timing technology. The 3K race is open to all ages under 15 years old while children aged 11 or younger must be accompanied by an adult who doesn't need to enter the race themselves.
Registration takes place at Newton Arms pub starting at 10:00 am, where runners can also find toilet facilities. Parking options are available nearby at Newton Train Station (G72 7TD), and the start line is just a five-minute walk away from the registration point.
Race times:
- The 3K race starts promptly at 11:15 AM.
- Participants in the 10K event will begin their run at noon.
No dogs are permitted on this narrow path, ensuring safety for all runners. To ensure everyone's enjoyment and safety, please be aware that entries may not be transferred or deferred to another year, with no refunds except in case of race cancellation by organizers.
All participants receive a goodie bag upon completion, while prizes will be awarded based on gender categories for the top three finishers in each event. Remember to familiarize yourself with the terms and conditions before entering:
1. Eligibility under Scottish Athletics rules is required.
2. Participants must declare themselves physically capable of completing 10 kilometers.
3. Parental or legal guardian consent is necessary for those under 18 years old.
Runners are encouraged to participate at their own risk, understanding that organizers do not assume liability for any accidents, injuries, losses, or damages resulting from race participation.
