Night Wolf 5K/10K

The Night Wolf 5K/10K returns to Kansas City, United States on July 31st, featuring a challenging evening run through the trails of Wyandotte County Lake Park. Participants will experience two distinct races in one event: a 7 PM start for the 5K and an immediate follow-up at sunset with the 10K. Both events have been part of local tradition since their inception four years ago, drawing runners from across Kansas City to enjoy the unique trail conditions.
On race morning, participants can expect clear trails leading up to Shelter 2 in Wyandotte County Lake Park. The park's natural setting provides a serene backdrop for both races, with plenty of ambient light as evening falls and a slight chill that dissipates into warmer temperatures by sunset. Registration opens at 6 PM at the same location where runners will start their race.
This year marks the fourth iteration of Night Wolf events in Kansas City, which have seen increasing participation from young and new trail runners each summer season. The cause remains simple: to bring together a community through shared athletic challenges and camaraderie under the stars. Runners are encouraged to register early for guaranteed swag and entry into prize drawings.
The race courses wind through rugged bridle trails known for their steep elevation gains and varied terrain, with an extended route added this year specifically for the 5K event. Each run offers unique features such as crossing paths at certain points before diverging in different directions toward challenging segments that test endurance on both fronts—endurance of leg muscles and heart rate management.
